Manganese Metal Company (MMC) is the single largest producer of electrolytic manganese metal in the world. The company has production plants located in Nelspruit and Krugersdorp, respectively in the Mpumalanga and Gauteng provinces of South Africa.

In September 2000, tobacco farmers made an offer to the Lowveld Co-opearatvie (LK) to purchase all its tobacco processing and packing equipment.

A new independent company, Lowveld Golden Leaf Ltd. (LGL) was formed who focuses and specialize in the production, processing and marketing of flue-cured tobacco.

Hall & Sons is situated in the Lowveld owning and working close to key export farms. They are great exporters of fruit and various other products.
